Rahsaan Delain M.S.

BOARD MEMBER

Rahsaan Delain M.S., is Executive Director, of the Collaboration on Poverty Elimination (COPE) WNY; in addition to serving as Project Coordinator, Health Equity, Community Health Center of Buffalo, Inc. (CHCB, Inc.).
 
The Collaboration on Poverty Elimination (COPE) WNY, is a non-for profit that combines CHCB, Community Action Organization, and Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers. The central goal is to reduce racial and other socially constructed barriers to advance health equity through the social determinants of health.
 
Rahsaan is also primarily responsible for working both internally and externally to build CHCB's capacity for expanding community partnerships through building coalitions. His efforts are focused on addressing health inequities and systemic racism in health care access, delivery, and outcomes. Rahsaan and a team of medical and mental health professionals from CHCB were one of the first responders to provide physical and mental health support to all involved on the May 14th mass shooting in Buffalo, NY.


Rahsaan holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the State University of New York at Buffalo; and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. John Fisher University, Rochester, NY. Rahsaan has worked with youth and families of color for over 20 years.


He is a Doctoral candidate in Counseling and Counselor Education at Syracuse University where his teaching, clinical, and research focus is on equity, anti-racism, and social justice in school and mental health counseling. Rahsaan’s dissertation will focus on intersecting racism and ableism in the experiences of black fathers raising children with Autism. Rahsaan is currently an adjunct faculty member in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at St. John Fisher University.


Prior to joining CHCB, Inc., Rahsaan served as the Diversity and Inclusion Manager for the first Diversity and Inclusion Office at Kaleida Health. Prior to Kaleida, he was an Assistant Director for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services in Rochester, NY, working in Juvenile Justice and Community Services, while leading statewide Race, Equity, Social Justice, and LGBTQ+ strategy.
