Re-Entry Week 2024: Find Support at RAWNY

Reentry Week is April 21 - 26, 2024.

The Reentry Association of Western New York (RAWNY) team is eager to kick off this year’s Reentry Week! From April 21st to 26th, 2024, we will hold informative and fun events dedicated to bettering our community and uplifting and helping those who were recently incarcerated.

Reentry Programs New York

Sunday: Red Wings Game

Join us at 12 pm at Frontier Field for a fun-filled day at the ballpark! Bring your family and friends; kids can run the bases around the field. Together, we can meet new people and reconnect with the community over a Red Wings game.

Monday: Dedication Day

We’re kicking the week off with some Monday motivation. Huther Doyle will share some of their successful addiction recovery and reentry stories with us. We’ll also discuss how RAWNY’s services and community involvement can help you achieve your goals.

Clients interested in sharing their stories with the group are encouraged to contact RAWNY at info@rawny.org.

Tuesday: Welcome + Home “Work” Day

Get ready to learn! On Tuesday, we’re covering the basics of independence and financial freedom at RAWNY (186 N. Water Street). Our friends at Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Rochester (CCCS) will help us learn about building credit, creating a plan to pay off debt, using a budget that works for you, and learning how to save for the future. Together, we’ll learn to handle our finances better and also lay the groundwork for financial success.

Habitat for Humanity will also teach us about qualifying for housing repairs so everyone can get settled in at home. Filling our fridges with healthy food is also important. The Friends at the Rochester Public Market will match $0.50-$1.00 SNAP benefits to assist with groceries!

Wednesday: Wellness Day

ROCovery Fitness offers wellness, fitness, and healing tips we can implement into our daily lives. This gym is free for anyone who’s been continuously sober for 48 hours, so it’s an excellent opportunity for sober individuals looking for a safe space to hang out, exercise, and make friends.

If you’re ready for a feel-good day, take some time to pet RocDog’s loving therapy dogs, explore new yoga techniques, and learn about proper nutrition. Healthcare information from Regional Health Reach and Compeer Rochester will teach us the importance of self-care and how to get started.

Thursday: Education, Occupation, and Transportation Day

Getting around is not easy without transportation. Join our discussions about transportation solutions and more information about Driven 2 Success’s affordable car loan application program. Hear a tutor talk regarding REOC GED programs for other educational and vocational opportunities.

We’ll also hear from the Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association (RTMA), Opportunity ROCS, and BOCES with tips and advice for jumpstarting your next career path. Explore your options in manufacturing, construction, barbering, and more.

Friday: Open House

We want to meet Rochester’s providers! Our open house is a great opportunity for providers in the area to learn more about RAWNY and how you can get involved! We’d love to hear from you and learn more about how your organization impacts the community. Let’s connect!
